Why beavertail pistol

Some guys have 15 grips in a drawer trying to find the perfect one. Others don't care. Maybe you will need an ergonomic specialist to help with your shooting position? If I was in your position and was trying to figure it out I would buy both and try them out to see. One other thing, not all lowers will seat a beaver tail grip correctly.

An example is the 2A lightweight lowers. Also some care should be taken if a billet lower is considered. Good luck. I am in Dover. Beaver tail for me Try both, just to see which is more comfortable to use.

This opinion would be driven completely by your hand and finger size. I like the beaver myself. Medium sized hands here. I've used both types, with and without the beaver tail. My personal preference is if it has the finger grooves, no tail is needed. Without the grooves, the tail is nice. View Quote I have big hands, even though I'm 6' and lbs. My fingers are long and I'm always having to buy extra large gloves. They don't even look freakishly long or anything.

I wear size 8 medical gloves. View Quote All my lowers are plain mil. All my lowers are plain mil. Looking at both versions, I don't think the beavertail is really going to help get you a higher grip unless you have fat hands.

I have both and don't see a difference in ability to get a high grip or control muzzle flip. As for concerns with concealed carry, some find the tail catches on clothing, YMMV. It comes down to personal preference, some people absolutely love the aesthetics of a beavertail.

There are others who can take it or leave it while some, especially "old school" Sig guys, detest it. Get what you enjoy and have fun. Semper Fi Sig Marine. Ya I just shot a , and didn't feel like it really needed one, but I still think it looks badass as hell on most I see. Sigs with tails are for the US market, to simulate that feel. Europeans would never give a hoot about them. Seems that if Sig was looking to reduce recoil, they wouldn't mount their slides so much higher in relation to your grip than similar handguns!

If beavertails were there to counteract muzzle flip, it seems like they're fighting or trying to balance out their own design. Glocks ride so much lower in the grip, it really helps IMO. To me, Sig hammer bite is mostly an ghost issue. It's such a small hammer!

If people are getting hammer bite from Sigs, they must have freakishly flabby hands. The beavertail backstraps are easily changed and secured to the frame with a single pin offering the following options: a short frame SF version, a medium M and a large L version. The beavertail backstraps keeping large hands clear of the slide.

The short frame SF version without any backstraps mounted still remains a complete fully functional frame. Its dimensions are smaller than previous generations. Subject to technical changes. Some magazines might not be available in all countries due to legal regulations.
